"Richard Parker" from Life of Pi

"Richard Parker" from Life of Pi

I lead the texture team for Life of Pi at R&H and was the primary painter for Richard Parker. My responsibility was to create all maps including detailed skin color, fur color, sss, spec, normal and 32bit sculpted displacement maps with the ultimate goal of matching the real tiger from set one for one. This also included very detailed areas like eyes, eyelids, lips, nose, paws, claws, etc.. My work also included the emaciated version of the tiger, adding cornea film, eye goop, sun burn, flaked skin, bed sores, and general discoloration. I also painted the Yellow Fin Tuna, a handful of other fish and misc items on the show.

After my time on the show, Drew Harrison took lead duties and maintained the tiger for the remainder of the show as well as painted the young variation.
